Emergency Food & Shelter Program (EFSP)


The Emergency Food and Shelter Program was created by Congress to help meet the needs of hungry and homeless people throughout the United States and its territories by allocating federal funds for the provision of food and shelter.  United Way of Weld County facilitates the Local Board of EFSP and administers the program.  United Way of Weld County serves as grant manager and coordinates this effort. EFSP grant have ranged from $75,000 to $125,000 annually.  The local EFSP Board makes recommendations for distribution of these funds.  Agencies that benefit from the program are:  A Women's Place, Catholic Charities Northern, Connections for Independent Living, Fort Lupton Food & Clothing Bank, Greeley Transitional House, Salvation Army and the Weld Food Bank.
